There’s no rest for the wicked – or the supernatural. Not long after the crazy events of Jackaby, Abigail and her eccentric boss are headed into another over-the-top case. In the middle of a suspicious death case they run into a new debacle: Dinosaur bones go missing from a dig site and a mysterious beast is stalking the local town, slaughtering villagers and their farm animals. When Charlie Cane, who’s been recently exiled from New Fiddleham, calls on the best investigators he knows, the masters of the weird and spooky are in for a real adventure.

Firstly, let me say that I was so excited that Charlie was still a player in the story. I fell in love with him in Jackaby and after the plot twist and his being forced to leave, I was worried. But our adorable and fierce policeman is still part of Squad! It also allowed for our slow-burning romance between Abigail and Charlie to continue its evolution.

However, the romance never overtakes the plot, and the craziness of this mystery tops even the serial killer in Jackaby. The mystery is pretty two-fold: who’s stealing the dinosaur shit and what is terrorizing the town? Are they related or is it literally a coincidence? It’s another question to consider!

The science/supernatural combination really adds a new level of mystery, and a whole other obstacle to overcome. Trying to determine what is real and what is not is a big part of it, and challenges Jackaby’s EVERYTHING IS SUPERNATURAL perspective. They also encounter several scientists on the dig site and have constant clashes about the supernatural, which creates a whole other set of drama.

So basically, if you enjoyed JackabyBeastly Bones is going to definitely be a great read for you! I am in love with this series, and this may be my favorite in the series so far! If you have read this, let me know in the comments and as always, the cover is linked to the Goodreads page!

xoxo y’all,
